Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev's ex-wife Elana was awarded some $4.5bn in what is considered the most expensive divorce settlement in history.

Mr Rybolovlev made much of his fortune with the 2010 sale of his stake in a fertiliser company.

Art dealer Alec Wildenstein divorced Jocelyn, a New York socialite known for her cosmetic surgery, in 1999.

She received a $2.5bn settlement, plus an annual $100m for the next 13 years, according to reports from American and British newspapers.

Old Bernie Ecclestone, the Formula One CEO, settled with ex-wife Slavica with a reported $1.2bn payout in 2009, according to Forbes.

Poo Bus

A Bio-Bus which runs entirely on gas generated by human and food waste has carried its first passengers.

The 40-seater has a range of up to 186 miles on one tank of gas, the equivalent of around five people's waste over a year.

It is being used to provide a shuttle service between Bristol Airport and Bath city centre.
Engineers believe Bio-Bus could provide a sustainable way of fueling public transport while improving urban air quality.

The gas, biomethane, produces fewer emissions than traditional diesel engines and is both renewable and sustainable.

This week, the company also became the first in the UK to inject gas generated from human and food waste into the national gas grid network.

The annual waste generated from one bus load of passengers would provide enough power for a return journey from Land's End to John O'Groats.

A CRIME gang used a house owned by one of Britain’s top police officers as a cannabis factory, it has emerged.

Drug dealers grew thousands of pounds of super-strong “skunk” plants under the nose of Rod Jarman, a Scotland Yard deputy assistant commissioner.

The officer rented out the four-bed house through an online letting agent to a British man with a Chinese or Vietnamese name, who provided proof of identity and bank details.

Later, alerted to strange noises by neighbours, Mr Jarman visited the house, in Abridge, Essex, and found it filled with plants and equipment for growing the class B drug

The gang had run up a £20,000 electricity bill and caused an estimated £48,000 of damage.

Mr Jarman told the Mirror: “Despite 31 years’ experience of policing I didn’t see it coming.“It is an absolutely awful thing for people to find their home has been destroyed for somebody else’s illegal gain.” Police in England and Wales uncover about 20 cannabis factories every day and last year officers and customs seized 1.3 million plants worth £150 million.

A woman found an unwelcome weekend guest in her bathroom: a 7-foot alligator.

Alexis Dunbar says she screamed and the gator hissed when she found it inside the bathroom of her home on Saturday afternoon. Her boyfriend propped a small table by the bathroom to keep the gator inside until an officer from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission showed up to take it away.

Dunbar believes the gator used a doggie door on the back porch to get inside the house. Dunbar lives in Palmetto, St. Petersburg.

The tallest LEGO tower in the world!

IT’S the ultimate tall order.

Sao Paulo wanted to bring the record for the tallest Lego tower to Brazil, and with a little help from a famous friend they managed it.

Football ace Cafu laid the last bricks of the 102ft work, built with help from designers sent over by the Danish toy firm.

It has broken the previous record set by Chile in 2008 by 9.8ins. Since 1988, 53 cities have built them.

Some Czechs were amused, others appalled, and more than 5,000 have signed up to a Facebook campaign to mail pens to Vaclav Klaus.

The video of him sheepishly pocketing one he took an obvious liking to during the signing ceremony last week in Chile became widely popular on the internet.



Mr Klaus said it was customary for leaders to keep pens after signing accords.

But the manner in which he slipped the pen - encrusted with semi-precious Chilean stones - into his pocket underneath the desk while grinning was criticised by some of his countrymen.

Farmer dyes orange sheep!

FARMER John Heard was sick of his sheep being rustled so he dyed them bright orange.

Mr Heard coloured his flock of 250 blackfaced ewes after losing 200 sheep to livestock thieves over the past few years.

The 48-year-old, of Okehampton, Devon, said: “My son James suggested the orange dye. It produces some strange-looking sheep but it’s totally harmless and it seems to have done the trick – I haven’t lost one this year.”

A pervert with a fetish for cow manure who terrorized a farming family was jailed.

David Truscott, 41, was found covered in soil in a field, naked apart from a single sock, by the farmer’s 16-year-old son. 

His lawyer while defending, told the court that David was a “sad, socially inadequate man” and asked for leniency but the judge said he had to be jailed for his “perverted activities”.

Judge Christopher Elwen said: “You’ve made the home life of the Roth family absolute hell through your bizarre fetish and disgusting behavior.”

It's not makeup or paint that makes Paul Karason's skin a bluish color.

The 57-year-old started making the transition from fair skin and freckles to what he looks like today 14 years ago.

"The change was so gradual that I didn't perceive it and for people around me, likewise," Karason said. "It was just so gradual that no one really noticed. It wasn't until a friend that I hadn't seen in several months came by my parents' place to see me and he asked me 'what did you do?'"

What Karason did was use a substance called colloidal silver, which is made by extracting silver from metal. It goes into water with an electrical current and then you drink it. Colloidal silver is billed as something that will cure just about everything that ails you and Karason swears by it.

I do tend to avoid public places as much as I can," he said.

Karason's girlfriend, Jackie Northrup, said she was surprised at first, but is now used to it.

"The only time now that I really think about it or notice it is if we're out in public and people start staring," she said.

Karason moved to Madera, California about six
months ago after living in Oregon. He said too many people in Oregon were unkind to him and he hopes Californians will be different.

"I hope that they just accept me," he said. "And I think that will happen here. Where I was, I rather doubt it would have. This is a different kind of community here."

"He's very kind and has a big heart," said Northrup.

Karason said he has not sought medical attention for the condition and he is prepared to live with it for the rest of his life.

A flooded engine and a pothole

Well, the image speaks by it self. Half of the Nissan 4 x 4 disappeared into the crate which was covered by water.

"The 4x4 pickup truck had been driving along the road when it came across the water filled hole and had no warning before driving straight into the hole," said a spokesman for the West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"It was left at such an angle that the rear wheels were off the ground. Amazingly, the electrics continued to work leaving the lights on underwater leaving an odd glow.
