Why Elephants can't dance, the strongest animal on earth and more ...

Why elephants can't dance: Although they are one of the biggest and most charismatic animals on Earth, elephants can't dance because of their low area to volume ratio. Their legs are big and heavy to support their weight, but this impairs their ability to jump, change direction and dance, like an elegant ballerina.

How hamsters can sky dive: The size of an animal determines its likelihood of surviving a fall from an aeroplane or a tall building. Smaller animals hit the ground with a proportionally lower force. That's why, whilst falling out of an aeroplane is fatal for humans, hamsters live and spiders dont even feel the impact. Don't try this at home!

Why chocolate tastes so melt-in-the mouth good: Chocolate melts in your mouth thanks to the crystal structure of the cocoa butter that is used to make it. The crystal structure is created when molecules fit together and build to make up the cocoa butter fat. Getting this crystal structure right is the trick and its not easy there are six different crystal structures and only one works for chocoholics.
Why ants are so strong: An ant can lift 100 times its own body weight compared to an Olympic weightlifter, who can only lift double their own weight on a good day. This is because, being so light, ants only use a small amount of their muscles to hold themselves up, leaving the rest of their strength for lifting. So, as things get bigger they get proportionally weaker.

Can we build a lift to the moon? Until now there has not been a material strong enough to withstand the huge gravitational forces that dominate as you start to move up into space. But recently we discovered super strong materials, which make steel look as soft as butter by comparison, and which could indeed make it possible to build an elevator to the moon.

How about having a crocodile as a pet...

Typical morning greeting in this household:
"Dad, where's your leg?"
"Uh...- oh look, Gena has it. Isn't she cute??"

A businessman has installed the latest home security in his family home – a 7ft crocodile.

Vlad Jersovovcov’s pet croc Gena has the run of the home in Jaskinia, northern Russia.

He said: “She behaves more like a big dog than a killer and likes to sit on the sofa with us. Naturally, not many people try to break in.” (Captain Obvious to the rescue.)

Man told he is pregnant with twins

Gianni says: No... it's not Bud Spencer. And no, it's not one of Berlusconi's many unknown off-springs. But it sure is a curious piece of news!

A man was told by a hospital that he was two months’ pregnant... possibly with twins.

Childless Hilton Plettell, 50, was sent a letter – addressed to Mr Plettell – which informed him that he would give birth in seven months’ time. Like all mums-to-be, he was asked to go for a scan and was helpfully told: “Please attend with a full bladder, which is important to your ultrasound.” The only time he has been to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital was to have kidney stones removed almost 15 years ago.

The hospital letter advised Hilton: “An ultrasound scan is used to check pregnancy, to determine how far pregnant you are, and sometimes it can show twins.” Hilton said: “It came as a bit of a shock to say the least. I had to read it through twice as I thought I must have read it wrong.” “My partner asked me if it was a secret I had been keeping from her – everyone has had a good laugh about it. I knew the letter was genuine.”
Mr Hilton would have been looking like this? - don't worry much about this guy. His belly is full of beer.. no babies

He added: “The ribbing has been coming thick and fast. When I walk up to the door of my snooker club I get, ‘Ooh mother and baby coming through’. A few of my friends have told me to turn up at Norwich Hospital as a woman and wear a wig.”

Emma McKay, senior nurse for women and children’s services at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital said: “We have contacted him directly to apologize. We will also be taking the opportunity to look at how this obvious mistake occurred and improve our procedures.”

Football team concedes 227 goals in 11 defeats

Madron FC have lost all 11 games of the season, let in 227 goals and has just scored only twice. They struggle to field the 11-man full team but the club refuse to give in. Boss Alan Davenport, 68, said they are "probably the worst team in Britain" but added: "It would be easy to give up but we'll fight on."

The worst game had the result saying a 55-0 drubbing, however, for which the team mustered seven players but no goalie ("One lad did stand between the posts," says Davenport, "but he spent the game chatting to his mates"), things could be looking up. In the following game, Madron lost 22-0 – but they fielded 12 players, and the goalie saved two penalties.

"Today alone, I had calls from three lads who want to play with us," says Davenport. "22-0 isn't brilliant. But it's 33 goals better than last time. This weekend, we might get a point. We're not giving up."

Incredibly, there is another team below them in Mining League Division Two, after they had points deducted for not turning up to a match.

Discount grocery chain Lidl has begun stocking its shelves for Christmas - with reindeer meat.
The supermarket, which has 500 shops in the UK, Italy, Germany and Malta. It is the first to introduce the meat, which sells for £5.99 for 350g under its premium Deluxe brand.
Animals rights campaigners claim the Germanowned chain is "destroying the magic of Christmas" and demand it "takes Rudolph off the menu".
Lidl say their reindeer feed on local aromatic herbs and grass. "They live in their natural habitat and have plenty of space," said a spokeswoman.

The plane landed safely, and none of the 459 people on board were injured. Qantas, meanwhile, has grounded its Airbus A380 fleet pending an investigation into the incident.
