The Girl With 2 Hearts

Here is the amazing story about Hannah Clark is a 16-year-old.

Hannah Clark is no ordinary teenager and her normal life today could not have been possible without a unique, life-changing heart surgery. When she was eight-months-old, Hannah was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy — an inflammation of the heart muscle that impairs the heart’s ability to work properly.

Hannah’s heart was failing and she needed a transplant. But instead of taking her own heart out, doctors added a new donated heart to her own when she was just two-years-old. As with any organ transplant, Hannah’s body was likely to reject her new heart and she had to take powerful immune suppression drugs.

Those drugs allowed her body to accept the donor heart but also led to cancer and yet another medical battle for Hannah that lasted for years. Nearly 11 years after receiving the extra heart, there was more bad news: The immuno-suppression drugs were no longer working. Hannah’s body was rejecting the donor heart.

Her doctors tried something that had never been done before: They took out the donor heart. Doctors theorized that the donor heart had allowed Hannah’s heart to rest, recover and grow back stronger. Now for the first time Hannah’s father, Paul Clark, describes the agonizing decision the family had to make at the time: “If she’d never had it done, she wouldn’t be here.

“In the very beginning it was a 50/50 chance she wasn’t going to make the operation. But in the next one it was even greater because it had never been done before. But we had to take that risk,” he said. The doctors were right. Three years later, Hannah has no need for any drugs and has been given a clean bill of health. The operation was a success.

“The possibility of recovery of the heart is just like magic.” Dr. Yacoub said at a media conference.

The woman who had to lift her own head!

Thea Maxfield, England, suffered a "hangman's break" a clean break of the upper cervical vertebra when she fell from her dressage horse.

She tried to get out of the animal's way as it galloped around after the fall, but when she tried to pick herself up, the horrified 26-year-old found her head stayed where it was.

Realising she had to move to avoid being stomped on, Ms Maxfield cupped her hands around her own head and lifted it into place to avoid damaging her spinal cord.

"As soon as I came off the horse I knew something was wrong. I went to get up but my head stayed on the floor,'' she said. "I couldn't move my neck or my head and I had to literally pick my head up and carry it in my hands."
Doctors initially warned she may be permanently paralysed.

But incredibly after using a revolutionary fixed brace connected to a computer by tiny sensors for three months to help fuse the bones back together, she is now back riding seven months after the accident.

40 hours + 100,000 Staples = ...

Peter Root, from Guernsey, spent 40 whole hours putting to stand 100,000 staples to build his latest work of art.

The picture speaks for itself

Peter made this amazing model using a bunch of stacked staples. He has decided to call it Ephemicropolis.

As you can see, he needed a plenty of patience and time to create such magnificent model.

How did he get rid of his sculpture? .He destroyed it by using the round-smashing marbles..

Dead mouse found in loaf of bread!

A man was sickened when he found a dead mouse in a loaf of bread while making sandwiches for his children. The father-of-two thought the bread was just discolored but on closer inspection saw the object was covered in fur.

Mr Forse said: "I noticed a dark coloured object embedded in the corner of three or four slices.

Cute isn't it?

"Initially I thought it was where the dough had not mixed properly prior to baking. As I looked closer I saw that the object had fur on it. Mr Forse continued to prepare some sandwiches for his children from another loaf of bread, checking each slice carefully. He said: "I still felt quite shaken. As I was feeling ill I couldn't face eating anything myself."

The experience was only made worse when environmental health officers visited the family's home to collect evidence and found the mouse was missing its tail.

Mr Forse said: "Her comments made me feel ill once again as there was no indication as to where the tail was.

"Had it fallen off prior to the bread being wrapped or had any of my family eaten it with another slice of bread on a previous day?"

Following an investigation by council health officers, the producing company was ordered to pay £16,821.

A company's spokesman said: "We apologise profusely for the distress caused as a result of this isolated incident."

Million Dollar Cars

Bugatti Veyron

Which of the world's finest cars cost a million dollars? More importantly, which of those million dollar cars are really worth a million dollars or even more than a million dollars?

Let's start at the top of the million dollar cars totem pole. Weighing in at 8 million dollars and literally weighing in at 2.66 tons is the carbon fiber and neoprene Maybach Exelero below, whose 8 million dollar price tag is inflated because most of it represents development costs for a one-off custom made car.

Among the cars that you can actually buy, the 1000 horsepower Bugatti Veyron tops the list at 2 million dollars. Slightly less powerful but sexier are a couple of 1 million dollar cars: Ferrari Enzo and the ultra-sleek Saleen.

In between $500,000 and $250,000 are the likes of Lamborghini Murcielago, Aston Martin Vanquish, Ferrari F430, and the less sporty Rolls Royce Phantom, Maybach 62 and 57, Bentley Arnage, and under $250,000 lie the mass market BMWs, the other Mercedes, Porsches, Jaguars, etc.

Fancy one?

Man saves dog thrown from window

A man was bruised but alive on Wednesday after a Saint Bernard dog thrown out a two-story window landed on him as he was walking down the street in the southern-Polish city of Sosnowiec.

The 110-pound dog was pushed out of the window by its drunken owner Monday, police said.

"The dog had a soft landing because it fell on a man," said police spokesman Grzegorz Wierzbicki. "The dog escaped with just a few scratches."

"The man was also more in a psychological state of shock than physically hurt," Wierzbicki added.
The one-year-old dog, named Oskar, was placed in an animal shelter while police investigate its owners for animal abuse.

Rev. Moon marries 7,200 couples in mass broadcast

Some 7,200 South Korean and foreign couples exchanged or reaffirmed marriage vows in the Unification Church's second mass wedding this year.

Church founder Rev. Sun Myung Moon, a self-proclaimed messiah, offered blessings for the participating couples gathered last Sunday at Sun Moon University, the school he founded in Asan, south of Seoul.

FAITH & REASON: What happens to these couples?

"I pronounce marriage for the blessed beautiful women and handsome men standing before God, the Lord, the world, and myself," said the 90-year-old Moon.

The couples exchanged vows and held hands to pray during the one-hour spectacle, which was broadcast live online and through satellite television to 194 countries, church officials said.

The participating couples threw up their hands and cheered "Hurrah!" in unison. The church apparently did not schedule the ceremony for the novelty of the 10-10-10 date.

Kitten gets flushed down toilet, survives

Meet the kitten who only has eight lives left, after being flushed down a loo by owner Alannah Merleto and eventually plucked to safety.

Feeling flush: The kitten is tended to after being rescued

However, it wasn’t an act of malice, but innocent mischief from a three-year-old who didn’t realise she'd caused any trauma. The little kitten was reunited with Alannah after an epic eight-man, five-hour rescue operation mounted by the New South Wales Fire Brigade.

Mum Ammie Croft explained how she didn’t believe at first that the tiny animal had been flushed into the sewage pipes. She told the Sydney Telegraph: ‘I asked Alannah if she knew where he was and she said “down the toilet”’. I didn't believe it could be true. I thought, “She can't have put the kitten down the toilet.”’

The cat is now feline fine.

Teen with Sleep Disorder Can Sleep for Two Weeks At-a-Time

This is just plain weird! I hope she grows out of it because this is a crappy way to live life. Louisa Ball does not even know about her prolonged sleeps, which began in 2008 as she recovered from flu, were initially thought to be hormonal until she was diagnosed with Kleine-Levin Syndrome last year.

sleep disorder

People who develop the condition, also known as Sleeping Beauty Disease, are prone to falling into extended periods of deep sleep that can stretch to weeks.

Miss Ball’s mother Lottie, 45, told a national newspaper: “She was exhausted and didn’t seem to be getting any better. She started to fall asleep at school and was rambling about things that didn’t make sense – just like she was talking in her sleep.

“It really scared us, we didn’t know what to do. It just didn’t seem like Louisa was the daughter we used to know – she was like a different person.”

Doctors at Worthing General Hospital were baffled by her symptoms, and suggested the problem could be to do with hormones.

Miss Ball’s sleeping episodes began to stretch to ten days at a time, during which time her parents would wake her once a day to feed her and take her to the bathroom, before she succumbed to sleep again. Wow, just amazing.

$765 Bottle of Beer and that is not the Strange Part!

You think a bottle of beer for $765 is weird? Wait till you see how it is packaged!!

most expensive beer

According to Scottish firm BrewDog, “The End of History” is the “strongest (55% alcohol), most expensive and most shocking beer in the world.”

Just 12 bottles were made and the company has already sold out. They will be shipped out to buyers in the United States, Canada, Italy, Denmark, Scotland and England. The dead animals which were used to create the beers’ unusual appearance were four squirrels, seven weasels and a hare. All were roadkill, James Watt, co-founder of BrewDog, said defensively.
